Under the direction of the Gift Shop Manager, the Assistant Gift Shop Manager position is responsible for managing and assisting our gift shop, exhibit and events staff. As a team we strive to provide exemplary customer service and exhibit supervision, ensuring our guests have a quality visitor experience. This is an active, hands-on role that will split time between the gift shop and exhibit areas.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Train new employees and guide existing staff
Delegate responsibilities and provide support to staff
Address employee and customer concerns
Enforce business policies and procedures and communicate procedural changes to employees
Oversee daily operation of the department
Communicate needs of the department to the manager
Inventory processing
Manage cash and register reports
Requirements
Customer service experience
Ability to work weekends as needed - current availability needs include Sunday and Monday
Work Environment
This role works inside our facility as well as outside in the garden area. Candidate must be able and willing to work in all weather conditions.

Management experience a plus

Position Overview - STARTING MARCH 1
Part-time Position (24 hours weekly)
Flexible schedule, must be able to work weekends as needed
9 AM – 5 or 6 PM (depending on season)

The Gift Shop/Exhibit position is responsible for customer service and exhibit supervision, ensuring our guests have a quality visitor experience. This is an active, hands-on role that will split time between the gift shop and our exhibit areas.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Provide customer service to visitors at register, throughout the facility and via phone
Help stock merchandise for gift shop
Help clean the facility and grounds as instructed by management
Supervise exhibits to ensure the safety of the guests and animals
Sell drinks or food cups at exhibits

Ability to work weekends as needed

Education Assistant
Part-Time To Start, Full-Time March 1

Part-time Position (20+ hours weekly to start, 40 hours weekly in March)
Flexible schedule, must be able to work weekends as needed
9 AM – 5 or 6 PM (depending on season)
Hourly compensation
Under the direction of the Education Director, the education assistant is responsible for teaching the public using all facets of the Medicine Park Aquarium, including ambassador animals and animal shows, educational classes, programs and events. This can include:
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Perform ambassador shows and critter chats
Call back and book groups/field trips onto the calendar
Call back and booking participants for educational camps
Help perform guided tours for groups/field trips that come to the aquarium
Help teach educational classes for groups/filed trips that come to the aquarium
Help teach at any educational programs or events
Includes helping to plan activities to be performed during these events, and all set up
Some of these programs or events may be travelling trade shows or educational booths
Help run educational camps
Includes planning and development of ideas for projects and activities during the camps, and all set up
Perform ambassador/critter chats for booked parties or groups
Some of these parties may be after hours and will be coordinated ahead of time
Participate in research for grants for educational programs and exhibits
Additional Duties
To help care for the animals in the nursery and the office
To perform MOD duties in a rotation with other managers on weekends (comes out to 1 weekend a month)
To help where needed in Gift Shop (covering lunches in an emergency or when shorthanded)
To help in after hour events when needed
To help make cups for feeding stations when needed
To help clean and take care of daily office maintenance
Other duties as assigned
